When employers, higher education institutions or other organizations ask for a transcript of a student's higher education coursework, they are usually referring to transcripts which are sent to them by the sending institution (MTI) and which bear some secure means of identifying that the transcripts are an unaltered and accurate record. Official transcripts are printed on security paper and bear the official seal and the signature of the Registrar.
How to Obtain Official Transcripts:
(Choose one of the options listed to request transcript)
- Print a request form and submit to the MTI Registrar’s Office
- Submit a written request which must include the following information:
Full name (include any previous or maiden name while attending MTI)
Last year of attendance (estimation is acceptable)
Name and address where you would like the transcript mailed & number of copies
Date and sign your request
Include payment ($5 per official copy)
Stop by the Registrar’s Office at the MTI Campus Center, 1800 E. Spruce Street, Mitchell, SD and complete the request form.

Official transcript requests will not be processed if the student (graduate) has an outstanding financial obligation.
Unofficial Transcripts or Grade Report Request
(Current and Former Students)
On occasion a student or graduate may be in need of an “unofficial” transcript. Unofficial transcripts are free of charge and are printed on ‘Grade Report’ paper. Request for unofficial transcripts can be made by phone, email or in-person. Be prepared to disclose personal information to verify your identity, such as your birthdate, address, major, etc.
