At the completion of the program, graduates will be able to:

1. Apply principles of safety in welding, cutting, and allied processes.
2. Use welding symbols and manufacturing measuring devices.
3. Describe metallurgy and mechanical/electrical requirements of carbon steels.
4. Build a career as a professional manufacturer.
5. Complete various AWS code welder qualification weld tests.
6. Interpret specific industry blueprints.
7. Apply aluminum metallurgy processes through electrical/mechanical requirements.
8. Use welding economics and variables.
9. Administer quality and production improvement processes.
10. Learn principles of robotic/machining equipment installation.
11. Generate programming to operate manufacturing equipment, AutoCAD, and Solid Works.
12. Operate robotics, manual lathe, milling and CNC machining stations, including laser and plasma burntable functions.
13. Conduct proper punch and die selection for forming of material.
14. Use all stations of an Iron Worker.
15. Demonstrate manufacturing skills by completing a class project with acceptable quality and workmanship.
16. Complete an apprenticeship program with a local manufacturer.

Placement data for this program will be available in 2014. 

Job prospects will vary with a welder’s skill level.  Prospects will be good for welders training in the newest technologies.  Welding schools report that graduates have little difficulty finding work, and many welding employers across the nation report they have difficulty finding properly trained welders.
