Mission:

It is the mission of Mitchell Technical College to provide skills for success in technical careers. As part of this mission, Mitchell Tech can develop and offer customized training for industry partners tailored to their specific needs. Training may be conducted on-site, or at Mitchell Technical College depending on customer preference and availability of resources. Mitchell Tech facilities may also be rented by industry partners and supporters for meetings or other use subject to availability.

Class A CDL Test Preparation And Training

This page provides information regarding participation in Mitchell Technical College Class A CDL Driver Training for non-enrolled students. This is not a professional truck driver training course, but an individual Class A CDL test preparation and driver skills training that meets the requirements for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT). Mitchell Technical College is a registered provider for FMCSA ELDT.

The Mitchell Technical College Corporation Education Division offers Online classes in partnership with Education To Go. Over 200 courses start every month on the Internet in the following areas:

Mitchell Technical College’s Corporate Education Division is a certified testing center for several industry certifications and career placement exams. Contact the Corporate Education office for more information about any of the following certification or career exams.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Course

Emergency Medical Technicians provide out of hospital emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical services (EMS) system. EMTs have the basic knowledge and skills necessary to stabilize and safely transport patients ranging from non-emergency and routine medical transports to life threatening emergencies. Emergency Medical Technicians function as part of a comprehensive EMS response system, under medical oversight. Emergency Medical Technicians perform interventions with the basic equipment typically found on an ambulance. Emergency Medical Technicians are a critical link between the scene of an emergency and the health care system. This EMT-Basic Program is designed to place students on a direct path to become an EMT. This program prepares students for both the National Registry and South Dakota EMT-B practical and written exams. EMTs are in high demand for the many volunteer and full-time fire departments in South Dakota.
 
6-10 pm, Tuesdays/Thursdays February 26th through May 30th on the MTI Campus.
Some selected Saturdays for (Skill Reviews and Practice Testing)
 
$475.00 includes all training materials. Pre-registration required and $200 non-refundable deposit to hold your position in the class. Balance due April 2nd. An invoice will be sent following registration. Deposit of $200 or full amount required prior to first class.

Note: Participants must be 18 years old by May 1, 2019 to participate in the certification testing.

Welding and Advanced Manufacturing Testing & Training

Advanced Technical Education encompasses a wide range of training and re-training needs. Employers will find that Mitchell Technical College can help them with many of their needs:

Mitchell Technical College is an Accredited Testing Facility (ATF) for the American Welding Society (AWS). As one of only 140 sites in the country, our Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) can develop, proctor and test a wide range of Welder Certifications and Qualifications. In addition to welder certification, we offer a wide range of advanced manufacturing training including: solid works, CNC coding and machine training, robotic welding, programing, maintenance and service.
 
You’ll see immediate results from training. Techniques learned in the classroom can be immediately put to use on the job. Our instructors stress the importance of hands-on, practical applications throughout the training process and concentrate on realistic use of the materials. Your site or ours, your instructor or one we provide for you, by the class or by the year, we are flexible and adaptable to your needs.

The Advanced Technical Education division at Mitchell Technical College offers a number of individualized certifications and customized training for welding and advanced manufacturing industries. Our unique department is one of the most advanced in the Midwest with highly qualified instructors, including a certified welding inspector, and access to some of the region’s most sophisticated equipment.

If you are in need of inspections, certifications or specialized classes for yourself or your employees to meet ISO or insurance standards, Mitchell Tech is a close-to-home partner. We offer a wide range of testing opportunities for industry. Our welding and manufacturing equipment can be configured to meet the requirement of most manufacturing and welding facilities. We will work with you to develop or customize our programming and help you create a company welder catalog, a set of verifiable training records and certified testing results. (Documents provided to clients would serve as legal proof of testing and training through supported PDH hours and/or certificates directly from the American Welding Society.)

Our training sessions can range from a few hours to a few months, depending upon your needs. Our classrooms and labs can be adapted to your particular specifications. SatCom Professional Training

Mitchell Technical Institute Corporate Education is pleased to partner with GVF to offer Professional Satellite Communications Courses for VSAT training.  Successful completion of the GVF510 online training course paired with the Hands On Skills Testing will lead to the GVF Basic VSAT Installer Certification from Mitchell Technical Institute.

Take two additional on-line courses, GVF520 and GVF521 along with the Hands On Skills Test and receive the GVF Advanced VSAT Installer Certification from Mitchell Technical Institute. Discounts apply for multiple registrations from the same company or register for all courses at one time and receive a 10% reduction in tuition.

GVF510: CORE SKILLS FOR VSAT PROFESSIONALS

Core skills required by all fixed VSAT professionals for accurate antenna alignment and prevention of major sources of uplink interference. Includes advanced interactive 3-D simulations.  Required for: GVF Basic, Advanced, and all Specialist VSAT Professional Certifications. Pre-requisites: None. Format: Online, self-paced. Course fee $275 US.

GVF520: SATCOM FUNDAMENTALS

Fundamental theory of VSAT communications for all VSAT technicians and engineers. Includes advanced interactive graphical simulations. Required for: GVF Advanced and all Specialist Satcom Professional Certifications. Prerequisites: GVF 510  Format: Online, self-paced. Course fee $350 US.

GVF521: PRACTICAL TECHNIQUE FOR VSAT PROFESSIONALS

Covers the range of practical tips, techniques, and knowledge that field technicians and installers need to perform a high-quality, reliable VSAT installation. Required for: GVF Advanced and all Specialist Satcom Professional Certifications. Prerequisites: GVF 510 and GVF 520. Format: Online, self-paced. Course fee $275 US.

GVF BASIC HANDS ON SKILLS TEST (HOST)

Verification of core VSAT installation skills for interference prevention, as taught in course GVF 510. Prerequisites: GVF 510 (mandatory), GVF 520 and 521 also recommended. Required for: All GVF Satcom Professional Certifications. Format: On-site, 4-8 hours, course fee $175 US (enrollment limited, contact MTI Corporate Education for the next available testing date).

OSHA 10 Training

This training can be scheduled at any time. Call MTI Corporate Education for find out how we can provide OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 for your company.

Mitchell Technical Institute is a provider of OSHA 10 Introductory Safety Training for both the Construction and General Industry courses. Our authorized trainer has over 20 years experience from both the construction and manufacturing industries and training experience with Mitchell Technical Institute.

The 10-hour General Industry Outreach Training Program is intended to provide entry-level general industry workers broad awareness on recognizing and preventing hazards on a general industry site. Participants will be introduced to OSHA policies, procedures and standards as well as general industry safety and health principles covered in OSHA 29 CFR 1910. Special emphasis will be placed on areas most hazardous using OSHA standards as a guide.

OSHA recommends these courses as an orientation to occupational safety and health for workers covered by OSHA 29 CFR 1926 and CFR 1910. Workers must receive additional training, when required by OSHA standards, on the specific hazards of the job. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive an OSHA 10-Hour completion card within a few weeks.

CTE Welding

The Office of Career and Technical Education (CTE) is offering training to CTE instructors interested in providing concurrent enrollment credit to high school students in the Welding Training area.  This training is mandatory for instructors who plan to offer the WLD 101-Welding Safety and Discontinuities course to their students and receive concurrent credit at either Southeast Tech or Mitchell Tech with applicable fees.  This training will be held May 30-31, 2017 on the MTI Campus.

This two-day seminar will provide CTE instructors training and curriculum so you are prepared to teach these courses within your CTE division. In addition to this training, instructors must meet one of the following criteria to be an approved CTE instructor by the Technical Institutes. 

The criteria includes:

  • Master’s degree in discipline or master’s + 18 graduate credit hours in discipline
  • BA/BS in area of instruction
  • AAS or Diploma in area relevant to instruction + 4000 hours verified technical/occupational experience in the field and must be able to complete an “Employment Form” to verify this work

The $450 fee will provide the Hobart Instructors guide with DVD and pay for the required AWS membership. Make checks payable to MTI – Welding Training.

Industrial Controls Training

If your busy life is keeping you from advancing your professional skills, Mitchell Tech has the answer!  Register for our Industrial Controls training!

Controls are at the heart of regulating any electronic or electrical system. This training will build upon your knowledge base of electrical fundamentals and teach you specialty skills like process controls, automation, and the electronic management of routine electrical tasks. MTI’s outstanding reputation in teaching automation and controls forms a basis of this training.

This training is for electricians, heating and cooling technicians, commercial or industrial maintenance personnel or anyone who works with electronics or electrical equipment.   Applicants to the training will have their experience evaluated to assure that they have the skills necessary to enter the training.  A solid foundation in math skills is also desired.
