Mitchell Technical College’s Culinary Academy of South Dakota has been named one of the top three culinary schools in the nation.
KaTom Restaurant Supply recently named Mitchell Tech’s culinary program number two in the list of 25 award-winning schools. KaTom reviewed more than 1,700 schools before putting together its list.
Rankings were chosen based on data from the latest College Scorecard released by the Department of Education, which covers things like acceptance rates, school size, and outcomes for graduates.
“Seeing how our graduates’ earnings compare to those of some big-name schools from across the country shows you don’t need to go to the most expensive culinary school to be successful in our industry,” Culinary Academy program director Josh Kranz said.
Kranz said his team of instructors strives to fulfill Mitchell Tech’s mission every day in the classroom, giving students the skills they need to be successful in the culinary industry. His department was very honored when they received this news.
“Being recognized for what we do is a great feeling and it’s even better when you don’t apply for or pursue that recognition,” Kranz said.
Mitchell Tech’s Culinary program is accredited through the American Culinary Federation and features student work in the Oak Room, a prestigious on-campus restaurant.
The complete list of the top 25 schools that made the report can be viewed on KaTom’s website.
