The Mitchel Tech Mavericks rodeo team kicked off the spring season with the 61st annual Cyclone Stampede at the University of Iowa April 5-6.
Holden Eiseman of Glenham led the Mavericks with a third-place finish in saddle bronc riding. Jesse Kline of Hartford finished fourth in bull riding.
Mavericks Head Coach Jimmie Nicolaus said the rodeo was a great opportunity to get some bugs worked out, and for individual athletes to score some regional points toward qualification to the College National Finals Rodeo.
The Mavericks are set to compete in the following rodeos the rest of the season:
- April 12-13 Jackrabbit Stampede, South Dakota State University, Brookings
- April 26-27 Will Lantis Yellow Jacket Stampede, Black Hills State University, Spearfish
- May 3-4 Nebraska Cornhusker College Rodeo, University of Nebraska, Lincoln, Neb.
