MTI won a total of eleven gold medals, ten silver and two bronze. Many winners also received prizes such as tools of their trades and scholarships to further their careers and education.
According to MTI SkillsUSA advisor Jason Juhnke, “We are very proud of our students’ accomplishments. By showing dedication to excellence in occupational and leadership skills, MTI’s SkillsUSA chapter and the other students who participated in the competition are true ‘champions at work.’”
During the SkillsUSA competition, students competed against the clock and each other, proving their expertise in dozens of occupations. All contests are run with the help of industry, trade associations and labor organizations, with testing competencies set by industry. In addition, leadership contestants demonstrated their skills, which included extemporaneous speaking and conducting meetings by parliamentary procedure.
