Mike Blasius Memorial Scholarship

Mike Blasius Family

Raymond “Mike” Blasius owned and operated Blasius Construction in Kimball, SD for nearly 50 years before his death in March 2022. Mike held his crew to the highest expectation of work ethic and attendance and was known for his quick and witty sense of humor. This scholarship will be awarded to a current Mitchell Tech student in a Construction and Manufacturing Technologies program who exhibits excellent attendance and work ethic. Preference is given to students from Mike’s hometown of Kimball, SD and the surrounding area.

Gene Haas Scholarship

Gene Haas Foundation

This scholarship was established in 2017 with funds received from the Gene Haas Foundation. The scholarship will be given to students enrolled in a machining-based training and/or engineering program at the postsecondary level.
Machining and Manufacturing
Applicant must be enrolled full time in the Welding and Manufacturing Technology or Automation Engineering/Advanced Manufacturing Technology program. Applicant must complete the MTC Online application period during the open application period to be eligible to receive this scholarship.

Associated General Contractors (AGC) Endowed Scholarship

Associated General Contractors (ACG) is a South Dakota trade association that represents the interests of the construction industry. The Building Chapter is headquartered in Sioux Falls, SD and the members primarily build commercial buildings. Their scholarship objective is to help a young person enter a construction-related trade. They began offering a scholarship in the 2012-13 school year. The scholarship will be awarded in January each year and applied to the recipient’s account the following Fall semester.

Mitchell Area Manufacturing Association (M.A.M.A.)

M.A.M.A.

The Mitchell Area Manufacturing Association (M.A.M.A.) has been active in Mitchell for many years. It is a membership organization structured specifically to “promote and improve Mitchell and the surrounding communities by maintaining a strong manufacturing base and developing quality employment”. South Dakota manufacturers export South Dakota-made products to approximately 140 countries worldwide. Manufacturing is a major driver of the Mitchell economy with over 2,000 employees in the local industry. In 2016 M.A.M.A. teamed up with the Mitchell Technical College Foundation to provide a scholarship each year for students enrolled in the Welding and Manufacturing Technology or Automation Controls/SCADA program.

Applicants must complete the MTC online application during the open application period as instructed to be eligible for this scholarship Applicants must obtain a reference if requested on the application Students must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher Applicants who receive the Build Dakota Scholarship or receive Workforce Recruitment or Double Edge financial support are eligible to receive the M.A.M.A. scholarship Scholarship recipients will be selected by a MTC scholarship committee and M.A.M.A. representatives with references requested from the applicant’s instructor The scholarship recipient will be expected to attend the Manufacturing week meetings held in the Fall to be recognized
