Davison Crop Improvement Association Scholarships

Davison Crop Improvement has been providing scholarship funding for Mitchell Tech Ag students since 2010. The scholarship will be awarded in January each year and applied to the recipient’s account the following Fall semester.

David (Dave) L Kasten-Class Of 2011 Memorial Scholarship

Roxene G. Kasten

David (Dave) Kasten was a graduate of the Diesel Power program-Class of 2011. This scholarship was established in his memory by his family.

Daniel Roy Todd Memorial Scholarship

Daniel Todd Family

Daniel Roy Todd, son of native Letcher, SD parents, returned to his family roots in 1998 to care for his father and in August, 2001 he accepted the position of Executive Director of the recently-established Mitchell Technical College Foundation. Dan’s varied experiences in research, planning, consulting, and community development allowed him to focus on strategic planning for the Mitchell Technical College Foundation. In a very short time he had established the Mitchell Technical College Alumni Association and provided an excellent base upon which the Foundation was built. Dan passed away in 2005 after a brief illness but the Mitchell Technical College Foundation still credits him with the early success of the organization. The Daniel Roy Todd Fund began providing scholarships in 2016.

Dale Letcher Memorial Scholarship

Family of Dale Letcher

In 1968 Dale Letcher became employed at Mitchell Tech where he was the department head and instructor of the Architectural Design and Building Construction program. Dale loved his students and made a profound effect on many throughout the years. He retired from teaching in 1997. This scholarship will be awarded to an accepted Incoming students who meets the listed criteria and applied to their account for the following Fall semester.

Applicant must be a first year student enrolled full time in the Architectural Design and Building Construction program. Applicant must complete the MTC Online application to be eligible to receive this scholarship.

Dakotas Chapter NECA Endowed Scholarship

Dakotas Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA)

The Dakotas Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), based in Fargo, ND, was founded in 1949 and is one of 117 NECA chapters nationwide. It promotes and advances the interests of 40 electrical contractors in the Dakotas and western Minnesota. NECA contractor electricians are all members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. This endowment was created in 2014. The scholarships will be awarded in January each year and applied to the second year student recipient accounts for their second semester. The first year student awards will be applied the following Fall semester.
Electrical Construction & Maintenance
Applicant must be currently enrolled as a first or second year, full-time student in the Electrical Construction & Maintenance program at MTC. Applicant must complete the MTC online application during the open application period as instructed to be eligible for the scholarships. Applicant must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA.

Communications Endowed Scholarships

The Communications fully-funded endowment was created in December, 2003. The scholarships will be awarded in January each year and applied to the recipient’s accounts the following Fall semester.

Applicant must be currently enrolled full time as a first year student in the Wi-fi & Broadband Technologies program at MTC Applicant must complete the MTC online application during the open application period as instructed to be eligible for this scholarship Applicant must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA (universal financial aid application form) Selection committee may solicit instructor recommendations

Cadden J. Burgess Memorial Powerline Scholarship

Family and Friends of Cadden Burgess

Cadden grew up in Rapid City and graduated from Stevens High School in 2011. He attended MTC and graduated from the Powerline program in 2014. Being Cadden was so full of life, he always pushed it to the limit. After graduating from MTC he worked for Forbes (previously Timberline) and later moved to Altitude. During his time at Forbes, he successfully completed his Journeyman courses from Northwest Lineman College. Cadden was the first employee from Forbes to complete the Journeyman courses and traveled extensively with work and loved it. Cadden at the age of 27 died unexpectedly of a heart condition in Gillette, Wyoming.
Power Line Construction & Maintenance
Applicant must be first year, full time in the Powerline program at MTC Applicant must complete the MTC Online application to be eligible to receive this scholarship. Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.

CHS – Farmers Alliance

Farmers Alliance, a subsidiary of CHS Inc, is a full service agricultural cooperative located in Southeastern South Dakota. Their core businesses include agronomy, energy, feed and grain. Primary locations include Alexandria, Bridgewater, Chamberlain, Corsica, Ethan, Huron, Mitchell, Parkston, Storla, and White Lake. They also have offices in Emery and Wessington Springs.

Buche Family Scholarship

Mark and Chris Buche Family

Mark and Chris have been superb supporters of Mitchell Tech, both as a part of Tessiers, Inc. and on their own. The Buche Family Scholarship was funded in 2015 and established to help students achieve their educational goals while making it financially more feasible.
Applicant must be a fulltime student in any program at Mitchell Technical College Applicant must maintain a 3.0 GPA Applicant must complete the MTC Online application to be eligible to receive this scholarship.

Brian Zambo Scholarship For The Culinary Arts

David Zambo

Brian Zambo graduated from Mitchell Tech’s Powerline program in 2003. While at Mitchell Tech, Brian developed a fondness and respect for the unique talents of his schoolmates in the Culinary Arts program, and friendships emerged. Brian went on to a successful career in the energy industry. He passed away December 31, 2013. In recognition of Brian’s soft spot for the Culinary Arts program his father, David Zambo, has established this scholarship in his memory. The scholarship will be awarded in January each year and applied to the recipient’s account the following Fall semester.

Brian Zambo Fallen Linemen Organization Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Family, friends, co-workers and Fallen Linemen Organization

The scholarship endowment was established in 2014 by family, friends, co-workers and the Fallen Linemen Organization in memory of Brian Zambo. After graduating from Mitchell Tech in 2003, the Watertown native moved to California to pursue his career. After several years in California, he returned to South Dakota and accepted a position with Xcel Energy. Brian Zambo passed away December 31, 2013. The scholarship will be awarded in January each year and applied to the recipient’s account the Spring semester.

Blair Bortnem Memorial Mtc Staff Scholarship

MTI Faculty and Staff

Blair Bortnem graduated from Mitchell Tech’s Computer Systems Technology program in 1999. After working for Martin Group for a number of years Blair then became the Systems Administrator at Mitchell Tech, a position he held until his passing in February of 2018. Each year the faculty and staff of Mitchell Tech contribute to a Mitchell Tech Staff Scholarship fund. The Blair Bortnem Memorial Mitchell Tech Staff Scholarships is disbursed from this fund each year in memory of Blair’s dedication and service to IT and Mitchell Tech.
Applicant must be a first year student enrolled full time in the Information Systems Technology program. Applicant must complete the MTC Online application to be eligible to receive this scholarship.
