Tessier’s Endowed Scholarships – Incoming Students

Tessier Family Foundation, Mark Buche, Gopal Vyas

The Tessier’s Endowment was established in 2007 by the Tessier Family Foundation, Tessier’s, Inc., Mark Buche and Gopal Vyas. The purpose of the endowment is to provide scholarship funds to Heating and Cooling Technology students. These scholarships will be awarded in January each year and the funds will be applied to the recipient’s accounts the following Fall semester.
Heating & Cooling Technology
Applicant must be an accepted full-time student enrolled in the Heating and Cooling Technology program. Applicants must complete the MTI Incoming student online application and provide an online reference if requested between January 1 and June 30 to be eligible for these scholarships.

South Dakota Cable Television Association Scholarship

The S.D. Cable Television established the scholarship in 2012. The scholarships will be awarded August 1 to accepted Incoming students who meet the listed criteria. The funds will be applied to recipient’s account the following Fall semester.

Roxene G (Carey) Kasten- Class Of 1979 Scholarship

Roxene G. Kasten

Roxene (Carey) Kasten attended Mithchell Tech and graduated from the Animal Science program in 1979. This scholaship was established by Roxene in order to support new incoming students in the Animal Science program.

Randy Herr Memorial Scholarship

Family of Randy Herr

The scholarship was established in memory of Mitchell Tech Power Line alumnus Randy Herr in 2003. The scholarship will be awarded by August 1 and applied to an Incoming student account for the Fall semester or in January to a Current student and applied to the recipient’s account for the Spring semester.
Power Line Construction & Maintenance
Applicant must be an accepted full-time student enrolled in the MTC Power Line Construction and Maintenance program Applicant must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher Applicant must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA (universal financial aid application form) Applicant must be South Dakota resident Applicant must complete the MTC Incoming student online application and provide an online reference between January 1 and June 30 to be eligible for this scholarship or the Current student online application during the November application period.

MTC Freshmen Scholarship

Mitchell Tech Staff and Faculty

These scholarships are provided to full-time Incoming students enrolled at Mitchell Tech. The funding for this scholarship is provided by the contributions to the Mitchell Technical College Foundation by the staff and faculty of Mitchell Technical College. Recipients will be notified of awards mid-summer. All awards will be credited to student accounts for the Fall semester.

Mitchell Area Manufacturing Association (M.A.M.A.)

M.A.M.A.

The Mitchell Area Manufacturing Association (M.A.M.A.) has been active in Mitchell for many years. It is a membership organization structured specifically to “promote and improve Mitchell and the surrounding communities by maintaining a strong manufacturing base and developing quality employment”. South Dakota manufacturers export South Dakota-made products to approximately 140 countries worldwide. Manufacturing is a major driver of the Mitchell economy with over 2,000 employees in the local industry. In 2016 M.A.M.A. teamed up with the Mitchell Technical College Foundation to provide a scholarship each year for students enrolled in the Welding and Manufacturing Technology or Automation Controls/SCADA program.

Martha Fay Krueger Memorial Scholarship

The Martha Fay Krueger Memorial Scholarship fund was established in 2019 by her family to honor Martha Fay after she lost her fourth battle to cancer. Martha Fay was a caring, hardworking, strong woman, who was loved dearly by many. Martha Fay lived in Howard, SD where she worked incredibly hard to support her family. In her spare time, she stayed busy by cooking and crocheting. Other than her husband, Bill, children and grandchildren, one of her greatest joys in life was sharing her homemade things with others.
The scholarship will be awarded to a incoming, full time student enrolled in any program at MTC who has a GPA of 2.0 or higher Preference will go to a student whose life has been affected by cancer, someone from Howard, SD or who has worked or has a parent who works at PBM Packaging where Martha Fay was employed for 24 years. Applicant must complete the MTC online scholarship application to be eligible for the scholarship

Marlene Hafner Barrow Endowed Scholarship

Tessier Family Foundation

Marlene Hafner Barrow, a 1969 alum of Mitchell Tech’s Secretarial program, went to work at Tessier’s Inc. immediately after graduation. She began her career in a Clerical/Payroll role and continued to be a tremendous asset to Tessier’s serving in several capacities, retiring in 2019 as a Executive Administrator. Upon her retirement, Tessier Family Foundation established this endowment to provide scholarships for students enrolled in the Business Management program.
Business Management
Applicant must be accepted as an incoming full-time student in the Business Management program. Applicant must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applicant must complete the appropriate online scholarship application during the open application period. First preference to applicants from a 50-mile radius of Mitchell, SD excluding Mitchell and Huron students to award a student from a local small town. Applicant must demonstrate values that Marlene has displayed in her years of service to Tessier’s Inc. These include loyalty, integrity, leadership and compassion. Applicant must have a financial need, with first preference going to women who may not otherwise attend post-secondary education due to children, finances or other challenges.

Jeffrey L. And Trudiann Nelson Rural Electric Endowment

The Jeffrey L. and Trudiann Nelson Rural Electric Endowment was established in December of 2013 in celebration of Jeff’s retirement from East River Electric. Several of Jeff’s counterparts in the industry, East River Electric, and Jeff’s family came together to complete the endowment on behalf of Jeff and his wife Trudiann in honor of Jeff’s commitment to Mitchell Tech and the industry he served. Nelson has offered his support of Mitchell Tech through his involvement in Mitchell Tech’s Strategic Advisory Committee, program Advisory boards and most recently as a member of Mitchell Tech’s Foundation Board.

Gordon And Ethel Bainbridge Memorial Scholarship

Gordon and Ethel Bainbridge Family

Harv Kelley had a life-long career in the Telecommunications industry and wished to provide funding for student’s tools with this scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded each year to a student who meets the listed criteria.
Applicant must currently be an accepted Incoming full-time student enrolled in the Wi-Fi and Broadband/Telecommunications program Applicant must be a resident of a community within a 50-mile radius of Mitchell. Applicant must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA (universal financial aid application form) Applicant must complete the MTC Online Incoming student application to be eligible for this scholarship.

Edinger Family Scholarships

Wayne and Sue Edinger

Wayne and Sue Edinger, longtime supporters of the Mitchell Tech Ag Technology programs, have provided scholarships for students enrolled in Mitchell Tech’s ag-related programs for many years. Wayne passed away in November 2018 but the family continues to provide scholarship funding for students enrolled in Ag Business, Agronomy or Precision Ag.
